Heavy snow, dangerous road conditions close Yosemite National Park
After days of heavy snow left roads harmful and impassable, Yosemite Nationwide Park closed to guests Saturday. It won’t reopen till Thursday.
“Over the previous few days, we’ve had a number of automobiles spinning out,” park spokesman Scott Gediman stated, including that there had been no accidents. “We couldn’t sustain with clearing the roads, so we made the choice right now to shut the park.”
He stated guests had been requested to filter out, however some residents and staff remained within the valley. “There may be energy out in some locations of the park; it’s intermittent, so we’re hunkering down like all people else,” he stated. “I’ve been a ranger right here for 27 years and I’ve not seen this a lot snow.”
In response to the Nationwide Climate Service, Yosemite Valley is underneath a winter storm watch from Sunday afternoon till Wednesday afternoon, with the opportunity of as much as 69 inches of snow and wind gusts as much as 40 mph.
