Sheriff Villanueva offers safety proposals for Metro systems in wake of Brooklyn subway shooting

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva on Wednesday introduced that he delivered a letter to the Metro board advising he has an “all-or-nothing” proposal concerning public transit security.
The announcement comes after dozens had been injured throughout a taking pictures on a Brooklyn subway Tuesday.
Villanueva indicted the L.A. Metro is as susceptible because the transit system in New York Metropolis, and board choices created an unsafe setting for public transit due to a shared policing construction.
He known as standing insurance policies “weird,” and stated he will likely be providing to make the Sheriff’s Division the only legislation enforcement supplier for your entire transit system.

LIVE: Police pursue possible DUI suspect in L.A. County

Police are pursuing a suspect driver in Los Angeles County Friday night.
The driver may be wanted for a possible DUI as patrol units follow the silver Mercedes Benz sedan closely behind.
At times, the driver was seen driving the wrong way, dangerously speeding through red lights and narrowly missing other vehicles on surface streets.
It’s unclear how many passengers may be inside the vehicle.

Pedestrian dragged by vehicle, killed in hit-and-run crash in L.A.

A suspect remains at large after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The crash occurred on Jan. 29 at around 9 p.m. as the male victim crossed Venice Boulevard near St. Andrews Place within a marked crosswalk, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
That’s when the suspect, who was traveling westbound on Venice Boulevard, struck the victim. The violent impact pushed the person’s body underneath the vehicle, police said.
The victim was dragged underneath until the next street before he was dislodged and the suspect sped away, leaving the pedestrian lying on the road.
Paramedics responded to the crash and transported the victim to a local hospital where, despite life-saving measures, he later died.
The suspect’s car is described as a light-colored SUV or crossover vehicle. Police did not provide a physical description of the person.
The victim was only described as a male. No further details were released. His name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” said LAPD. “Pedestrians are also reminded to use crosswalks and use caution when on the roadway.”
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to anyone who provides information leading to the suspect’s identification, apprehension, and conviction.

Applebee’s brings back Date Night Passes

(KTLA) – Applebee’s announced Thursday that it’s bringing back the coveted Date Night Pass, which went viral on social media during its debut last year.
This year, the chain is offering 3,000 passes that will be exclusively available to Club Applebee’s members. On Valentine’s Day, 3,000 randomly selected members will receive an email notifying them that they’ve been randomly selected to purchase a Date Night Pass.
Those interested in the pass must be Club Applebee members. For those just signing up, your welcome email will include an option to register for a chance to purchase one Date Night Pass.
This time around, the pass will cost $100, allowing cardholders to get up to $50 of food and nonalcoholic beverages once a month for the next year. Passes will be redeemable for 12 visits between March 1, 2025, and Feb. 28, 2026.
By the time the pass expires, members would have saved $500, according to the company.
Last year, the demand for the pass was so high that Applebee’s restaurant temporarily crashed and passes sold out in one minute.
