Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program will compete against a familiar foe in the ACC/SEC Challenge this season.
If you ask the likes of Deja Kelly and Alyssa Ustby, the UNC women’s basketball program’s loss to South Carolina in the 2022 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 is one that they would love to avenge.
Fortunately, they’ll have the opportunity to do so on their home court.

North Carolina will host South Carolina as part of the first-ever ACC/SEC Challenge. The game will be played at Carmichael Arena on November 30 and is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 PM EST.
In a very competitive series, the Tar Heels currently hold an 11-9 record against the Gamecocks. The last 12 meetings between the two have been on neutral site courts, including that aforementioned NCAA Tournament battle.
The most recent game in Chapel Hill between the two teams came on December 12, 1987, as the Tar Heels won by a final score of 77-73 at Carmichael Arena.
Courtney Banghart and company are aiming to be the best and are looking to play the best in the process. This is a big-time matchup for the program, as South Carolina has been one of the top-tier teams in the country for quite some time now.
The advantage will be that the game is in Chapel Hill, as Carmichael Arena should be jam-packed for this exciting contest. With the hype and anticipation surrounding the UNC women’s basketball program this season, this is definitely a date to circle on your calendars.
