South Carolina adds to 2024 class with commitment from Virginia LB
South Carolina is up to 11 commitments in its 2024 recruiting class. The newest pledge for the Gamecocks is a linebacker out of Virginia.
Maury standout Fred “JayR” Johnson has decided to call Columbia his new home after picking up 17 scholarship offers. Johnson announced his commitment in a story post to his Instagram page.
From Norfolk, Virginia, Johnson is listed as measuring 6-3, 225 pounds. On the 247Sports composite rankings, Johnson is rated 3-stars, the No. 10 Virginia product, No. 51 linebacker and No. 521 prospect overall nationally in the Class of 2024.
Shane Beamer’s staff got in the mix for Johnson earlier this month, formally extending a scholarship offer. Johnson’s other offers include Duke, Maryland and Rutgers.
