Heard a loud boom in Mississippi this morning? It was a meteor.

CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) – Many residents in Claiborne County and past described listening to a loud increase Wednesday morning.

“Residents of Claiborne County, native officers are conscious of the loud sound that was heard all through the county,” their sheriff’s division posted on Fb, saying that the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station was not concerned.

Hours later it was confirmed that the loud increase was, actually, a meteor.

Malary White with MSEMA stated NASA had obtained roughly 40 calls from residents in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

The house object moved at a pace of 55,000 mph and broke into items because it entered the Earth’s environment. It disintegrated about 30 miles above a swampy space north of Minorca, Louisiana.

The fragmentation of the meteor generated the power equal to three tons of TNT, which created shock waves that hit the bottom.

This was the reason for the loud booms and vibrations felt by these again on Earth. At its peak, the fireball was over ten occasions brighter than the complete moon.

MSEMA says that the fireball precipitated no accidents or property harm and that it ran parallel to the Mississippi River.
