Small plane crashes off Florida coast with 2 people on board

VENICE, Fla. – A small aircraft crashed off the west coast of Florida late Sunday morning.

Based on the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft departed Venice Municipal Airport at roughly 11:35 a.m.

Two individuals had been on board, officers mentioned.

The Venice Police Division mentioned the crash occurred roughly 2.5 miles west of the Venice Fishing Pier.

The aircraft was a single-engine Piper PA-28, in line with the FAA.

The FAA and Nationwide Transportation Security Board will examine the crash, and the NTSB will lead the investigation.
