The 2023 Summer League Mavericks have already surpassed their win total from last summer.
The Mavericks earned their first Summer League win in a 111-103 win against the Philadelphia 76ers Monday evening at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.
Dallas trailed by 15 points entering the fourth quarter but Jaden Hardy, who finished with a team-high 24 points, inspired a 17-4 run.
Mavericks rookies Dereck Lively II and Olivier-Maxence Prosper contributed to the effort. Lively had 8 points on 4-of-5 shooting with 11 rebounds while Prosper added 10 points, 7 rebounds, a block and a steal.
Lively was the recipient of an alley-oop.
It wasn’t all great for the Mavericks. McKinley Wright IV, who had 13 points, left the game with an ankle injury.
Homegrown product Mike Miles Jr. provided 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in less than 15 minutes off the bench for the Mavericks. The Lancaster and TCU alum was also good for energy plays like this one.
Even if a lot of the buzz surrounding the Mavericks this summer is with the rookies, it was still Hardy’s night. He struggled from the floor, shooting just 29.4% on 5-of-17 shots, but made the most of his trips to the free throw line, where he shot 12-of-13.
One of Hardy’s five buckets came on a 4-point play.
The Mavericks’ next Summer League game is against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. CST Wednesday.
