Food stamps: All Maine recipients will receive monthly payments worth average of $168 within two days

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is currently distributing benefits to recipients in Maine, with all beneficiaries scheduled to receive their benefits within the next two days.

Food stamps in the Pine Tree State are sent out from the 10th through 14th of every month, and a person’s date of birth determines which day they receive their benefits.

HOW DEBATE CAN BE MAKE OR BREAK FOR CANDIDATES

Maine residents born on days ending in 0 or 9 got their benefits on Aug. 10, and those born on days ending in 1 or 8 got their benefits on Aug. 11. Those born on days ending in 2 or 3 got their benefits on Aug. 12.

Those born on days ending in 4 or 7 will receive their benefits on Aug. 13, while those born on days ending in 5 or 6 will see their monthly benefits on Aug. 14, which will conclude benefit distribution for August. After the final wave of benefits is sent out, the next round of payments for the program will begin on Sept. 10.

To be eligible for SNAP benefits in Maine, an individual may make a maximum annual income of $26,973 for a household of one or $65,009 for a household of five. The maximum income requirements for other household sizes vary, and more information on qualifications is available on the state’s website.

Those enrolled in the food stamps program may use their benefits via their EBT card to buy groceries and seeds, but they may not be used for prepared meals. More information on eligible items for the food stamp program can be found on the state’s website.

The amount an individual receives via the food stamps program in Maine is dependent upon several factors, but the average monthly benefit per household in the state is $168, with the state recording that roughly 12% of the population gets assistance paying for food via SNAP.
