With the available cap space for the NBA’s looming 2023-24 season nearly gone, the remaining players still unsigned to a contract who can actually help a team will have to start considering one-year, prove-it deals if they want to be in the league next season.
This could very well play into the Boston Celtics’ hands given the team is one of several with open roster spots but little in the way of money to spend for the players who will fill them. What they can offer is a high-profile gig on a ball club likely to contend for a title, the sort of setting that actually can jump-start a stalled career in the Association.
Would Kelly Oubre or Christian Wood make sense in such a context? And what’s going on with PJ Washington and the Charlotte Hornets? Is there a way Boston might get involved with a player no one expects them to?
The hosts of the CLNS Media “A-List” podcast took a quick look at the remaining free agent market on a recent episode; check the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say about it.
