US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Brussels Tuesday forward of this week’s high-stakes NATO international ministerial as US officers warn that Russia’s struggle in Ukraine may very well be getting into a protracted new section.

US Ambassador to NATO Julie Smith informed reporters earlier Tuesday that there could be a separate session on the NATO ministerial with Ukrainian Overseas Minister Dmytro Kuleba, saying “it’s essential for us to listen to straight from the Ukrainians firsthand what their evaluation is of those fast-moving developments on the bottom, and what extra we are able to all do to assist the Ukrainians on this second.”

Whereas in Brussels, Blinken will meet not solely together with his NATO counterparts on the ministerial, but in addition with the “Quint” — Italy, France, Germany, and the UK — and the “Quad” — France, Germany and the UK. He can even meet together with his Australian and Japanese counterparts.
