MILWAUKEE – Mayor Cavalier Johnson on Monday, April 24 signed a decision approving the funding for the development of a brand new public plaza to be named in honor of Vel R. Phillips.
Mayor Johnson was joined by members of the Milwaukee Widespread Council, a consultant from the household of Vel R. Phillips, and native leaders and stakeholders.

The longer term Vel R. Phillips Plaza shall be located south of Wisconsin Avenue between North fifth Road and North Vel R. Phillips Avenue.
