Emporia man dies late Monday after crash on Kansas Turnpike in Lyon County

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) – A person died after struggling a medical incident and crashing his automotive late Monday on the Kansas Turnpike in Lyon County, authorities mentioned.

The crash was reported at 9:34 p.m. Monday on Interstate 35 on the turnpike, about 4 miles southwest of Emporia.

In response to the Kansas Freeway Patrol, a 2020 Toyota Corolla was touring south on I-35 when the driving force had a medical incident. The automotive left the roadway, traveled via the ditch and collided head-on with a tree.

The motive force, recognized as William D. Bond, 60, of Emporia, was transported to Newman Hospital in Emporia, the place he was pronounced lifeless.

The patrol mentioned Bond, who was alone within the automotive, was sporting his seat belt.
