Watson elected president of northeast Indiana caucus

AUBURN — DeKalb County Commissioner Mike Watson will function president of the 11-county Mayors and Commissioners Caucus of Northeast Indiana for 2023.

Watson was elected on the caucus’ December assembly held on the DeKalb County YMCA.

“It’s an honor to be a part of the caucus management. Distinctive within the state, the Mayors and Commissioners Caucus is an influential voice for northeast Indiana, collaborating to handle financial growth points, legislative advocacy and customary considerations and challenges,” Watson mentioned. “I’m wanting ahead to assembly with our state legislators to advocate for the Caucus’ Dwelling Rule centered legislative agenda.

“Bringing tax {dollars} again to DeKalb County and the northeast area is a high precedence, as is working with the LEDO Council (Native Financial Growth Organizations) and RDA (Northeast Indiana Regional Growth Authority) to carry financial growth alternatives and {dollars} to the area,” he mentioned.

Decatur Mayor Dan Rickford was elected because the caucus vice chairman and Huntington Mayor Richard Strick will function secretary-treasurer.

Watson can also be a member of the caucus’s legislative committee.
