Chance for storms continue into the weekend across Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Isolated to scattered-like thunder storms this evening, risk for severe storms Saturday afternoon and evening.

It’s been a hot and humid end to the week and isolated thunderstorms are impacting Friday evening plans. While most storms will remain sub-severe, one or two could reach severe criteria for strong wind gusts. The chance for storms will start to diminish after sunset.

There is a level 2 out of 5 threat for severe weather Saturday afternoon and evening.

Damaging winds is the greatest concern, however, hail and isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out. An heavy downpours could lead to localized flooding concerns.

Storms will begin in northern Indiana after 3 pm along a cold front and slide south to central Indiana after 7 pm.

With the passing of the cold front, more seasonal and less humid air will filter in for Sunday. However, the northerly wind flow will allow for wildfire smoke to return and create hazy skies.

A big change in the upper level pattern will likely bring unseasonably mild air across the Midwest starting the second half of the next week!

Tonight will remain warm with early morning lows in the 70s with isolated to scattered-like storms. The first half of your Saturday will be mainly dry and hot before storms return for the late afternoon and evening. Sunday will be a little hazy with more seasonable temperatures. Heat and humidity spike the start of next week before it cools off starting Wednesday.
