Penguins rout Blackhawks 6-2 for 5th consecutive win
Egor Chinakhov and Anthony Mantha scored on rushes in a 31-second span in Pittsburgh’s four-goal second period, helping the Penguins beat the Chicago Blackhawks 6-2 on Thursday night for their fifth straight victory.
Connor Dewar scored twice, Ben Kindel and Ryan Shea added goals, and Arturs Silovs made 17 saves. Mantha, Shea and Noel Acciari each had two assists.
The Penguins had been off since sweeping a four-game trip with a victory over Vancouver on Sunday, with forward Bryan Rust starting a three-game suspension for a check to Canucks forward Brock Boeser’s head.
Connor Murphy and Connor Bedard scored for Chicago, and Soderblom stopped 38 shots in the first game of a back-to-back. The Blackhawks have lost four straight, falling 4-3 in a shootout in Minnesota on Tuesday night.
Kindel gave Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead at 5:54 of the second period. He came down the left side and beat Soderblom to the far side with a wrister.
Chinakhov slipped a shots between Arvid Soderblom’s leg pads with 4:30 left in the period, and Mantha also beat Soderblom through the legs with 3:59 to go. Shea capped the spree with 30 seconds left in the period, and Dewar added his second of the night with 6:01 left in the third.
Bedard fired a wrist shot past Silovs with 5:21 to go for his 21st of the season.
Murphy opened the scoring for Chicago at 9:32 of the first. Dewar tied it 1:52 later.
Penguins forward Rutger McGroarty was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League for his NHL game since sustaining a concussion in practice Jan. 6. He had five shots, three hits and a block in 10:36.
Blackhawks: Host Columbus on Friday night.
Penguins: Host the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Budget airline Breeze launching nonstop flights from Pittsburgh to Myrtle Beach this summer
The budget airline Breeze is launching a new nonstop route from Pittsburgh to Myrtle Beach this summer.
Breeze announced on Tuesday that its new route will fly from Pittsburgh to the popular summer vacation spot in South Carolina on Mondays and Fridays, starting July 3.
“We are excited to now offer Myrtle Beach as a destination for our Pittsburgh Guests,” David Neeleman, the founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, said in a news release. “This new nonstop gives travelers an easy and affordable way to enjoy one of the East Coast’s most popular beach destinations.”
The airport says Breeze is the fourth carrier to offer nonstop service to Myrtle Beach, joining Allegiant Air, Southwest and Spirit Airlines. By airline count, that makes Myrtle Beach one of the airport’s busiest nonstop markets.
It comes after Breeze last month announced that it would launch twice-weekly seasonal nonstop service between Pittsburgh and Louisville this spring. Breeze now has 15 nonstop destinations from Pittsburgh, putting it behind only Southwest, which has 21.
The flight from Pittsburgh to Myrtle Beach is about two hours, saving families from a day of driving, the airport says.
“Myrtle Beach continues to be a popular destination for Pittsburghers and this flight offers people in our region more nonstop options to get there,” Bryan Dietz, the airport’s senior vice president of air service and commercial development, said in a news release.
Service will be operated with a 137-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft. It will leave from Pittsburgh at 12:17 p.m., arriving at Myrtle Beach at 1:51 p.m. The inbound flight will leave Myrtle Beach at 10 a.m. and get into Pittsburgh at 11:37 a.m.

A man is dead after a fire in Washington County on Monday morning, the coroner said.
The Washington County Coroner’s Office said 66-year-old George Milliken died after a structure fire on Smith Street in Charleroi.
According to the coroner’s office, a neighbor reported the fire to 911 around 8:30 a.m. Milliken was found inside and was taken to the Penn Highlands Monongahela Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 9:45 a.m., the coroner said.
His cause of death is pending an investigation, and his manner of death is pending an autopsy.
Fire departments from Charleroi, Bentleyville and Fallowfield helped at the scene. Rostraver EMS responded as well, the coroner’s office said.
No other information was released on Monday. The Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is investigating. The cause of the fire wasn’t released.
