OBITUARY

E. Patricia Mulroy (nee Cleary), age 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 9, 2025 with family by her side while listening to music – especially showtunes. Pat is survived by her children Eileen Gazzuolo, Michael (Jodee) Mulroy, Terry (Carrie) Mulroy and Maureen (John) Zelina; grandchildren Michelle (Allan) Boyd, Dominic (Jennifer) Gazzuolo, Katie (Derek) Nelson, Susan (Eduardo) Rios, Steven Zelina, John (Taylor) Zelina, Tim Zelina, Madelyn Mulroy and Michael Mulroy; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and a large community of friends. Pat is predeceased by her husband Jim, son Jimmy, parents Pete and Betty (Ruddy) Cleary, brother John (Linda) Cleary and son-in-law Anthony Gazzuolo. Pat was a spark in the lives of so many. She loved her family, her church, her speech therapist colleagues and various card club members, her Irish heritage, the family pets, travel, the movies and most importantly, spending time with family and friends. Born July 14, 1933, in Cleveland, OH, Pat attended John Marshall High School and grew up on the west side of Cleveland, spending time with her large extended Irish family and going to the movies whenever possible – setting the groundwork of the love of cinema and theater for her children and grandchildren. After graduating high school, Pat attended Ohio University where she majored in speech therapy. Shortly after graduation she met Jim Mulroy at a mutual friend’s wedding. The two married November 24, 1956, and settled in Euclid. In 1958 the couple and their infant daughter moved to a new development in Wickliffe, where they would reside through the rest of their married life. Pat quickly became involved in many civic, community and religious activities while also raising their five children. Pat spent several years as a teacher at Wickliffe Playschool before eventually becoming a speech and hearing therapist in the Willoughby-Eastlake School District. She worked with children at a number of elementary schools, including Edison, Cricket Lane and Garfield. Pat was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for over 60 years, volunteering in a number of activities. She was a founding member of the church’s credit union, served as a member of the Altar & Rosary Guild and Christ Child Society and sang in the Christmas choir. She participated in OLMC’s variety shows for several years before working with other parishioners to form the Mt. Carmel Players in 1970, where she served on its first board. She loved to dance, and her petite stature resulted in placing her front and center in many musical numbers over the years. After retiring from the school district, Pat often volunteered at several schools for the hearing screening days. A lifetime fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns, she hosted many a game-watching party where the refreshments often compensated for the games’ results. After retirement Pat and her husband loved traveling throughout the US and Ireland, taking cruises all over the world, visiting grandchildren on the West Coast and snowbirding in Myrtle Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday Oct. 14 at 11 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Ave. in Wickliffe. Burial will be private. The Family will receive friends at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave. in Willoughby, Monday from 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Christ Child Society of the Western Reserve or the charity of your choice.
