Steelers Could Land Jets Superstar to Fix WR Problem

The Pittsburgh Steelers, after entering Week 15 with a 10-3 record and two-game lead over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North, have begun to unravel.

A stretch of three contests in 11 days resulted in nothing but losses for the Steelers, who are now 10-6 and in danger of dropping to as low as the No. 6 seed in the playoffs. Baltimore, conversely, won all of its games over that same period and now has a rather secure hold on the division at 11-5 ahead of Week 18.

There’s no finite answer as to why Pittsburgh has stumbled the way it has, but a hamstring injury to No. 1 wide receiver George Pickens further showcased the lack of depth and high-end talent the team has at the position outside of the 23-year-old star.

The Steelers’ offense couldn’t gain much traction during Pickens’ absence, which lasted from Weeks 14 to 16, and things didn’t improve much upon his return in a 29-10 defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17 either.

Thus, TWSN’s Tyler Raymond believes Pittsburgh should pursue a deal for the New York Jets’ Garrett Wilson this offseason, who reportedly drew trade interest ahead of the deadline and could be looking for a way out of East Rutherford.

“Trading for Wilson would give the Steelers one of the strongest receiving duos in the NFL,” Raymond wrote. “And more importantly, add another dimension to an offense that has already shown flashes of being great. Wilson wanting out provides the team with yet another shot at a position they so desperately need help at, and it would be shocking if they didn’t go all out to land the star.”

Entering Week 17, Wilson had put up 90 receptions for 987 yards and six touchdowns. The 2022 first-round pick also finished with over 1,000 yards in the first two campaigns of his NFL career despite playing within a subpar offense, and he profiles as one of the league’s most talented receivers.

With Pickens entering a contract year in 2025, it’s unknown how the Steelers will approach handing him a new contract. Acquiring Wilson, which would require parting with significant draft capital given that he technically has two years left on his rookie deal thanks to the fifth-year option, would provide the team with another premier weapon in the passing game.

He could either form a lethal duo with Pickens for the foreseeable future, or help soften the blow of him heading elsewhere. Pittsburgh has struck out in its prior attempts to bring in a top-end receiver, but landing Wilson would change that narrative.

Pittsburgh natives Joe Manganiello and Caitlin O’Connor move to Mt. Lebanon

Pittsburgh-area natives Joe Manganiello and Caitlin O’Connor are returning to their roots.

Manganiello, from Mt. Lebanon, and O’Connor, from Uniontown, have bought a home in the South Hills after getting engaged this summer

On Pittsburgh Today Live on Thursday, O’Connor talked about the couple’s move from Hollywood to Mt. Lebanon.

“It’s so nice to be home,” she said.

While Manganiello and O’Connor are happy to be back in southwestern Pennsylvania, O’Connor said it’ll be a bigger adjustment for the beloved chihuahua Bubbles. From the Pittsburgh Steelers fashion show to the gala celebrating the new airport terminal, the tiny dog is seemingly always in Manganiello’s arms.

“Bubbles is a California girl. She really doesn’t like the cold. We wrap her in a blanket and she has many, many puffy coats. I bought her a Steelers puffy to put in her stocking, so we’re going to see how she does over the next few months. But it’s not that long. It’s not forever. Winter will come and go,” O’Connor said.

And they all got quite the Pittsburgh welcome. O’Connor said it snowed when they were moving in, and Manganiello was outside shoveling for over two hours. She said she’s getting him a snowblower for Christmas.

The couple won’t be braving the Pittsburgh winter for too long. O’Connor said they’ll soon be off to South Africa, where Manganiello will film “One Piece” for Netflix. He’ll star as the villain Crocodile in the popular Japanese manga series.

“Bubbles will be in a better state,” O’Connor joked, saying it’s currently summer in South Africa. “I just bring Bubbles to set and hang out. It’s really the best job.”

Steelers re-sign veteran running back

The Pittsburgh Steelers are re-signing veteran running back Trey Sermon, the team announced today. Sermon has had multiple on-and-off stints with the Steelers since signing with the team rookie mini-camp. He’s appeared in three games for the Steelers in 2025.

Sermon was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. In 46 career games, Sermon has 505 yards on 134 carries and three touchdowns with the 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and Steelers.

The Steelers have the chance to put the Baltimore Ravens on the ropes this Sunday. If they defeat the Detroit Lions, the Ravens would have to defeat one of the New England Patriots or Green Bay Packers for the Week 18 matchup between the Steelers and Ravens to have any stakes. The Steelers can also clinch the division before Week 18 if they win their next two games and the Ravens go 1-1 or 0-2.
