Remi Wolf took the Emo’s Austin stage on October 11, 2024 as part of an ACL Nights performance. Tacked onto her Big Ideas tour, Remi Wolf made a stop on Saturday of weekend two of Austin City Limits, but performed a night show the day before at Emo’s. ACL Nights makes it possible for folks to see acts coming through the festival without the full-weekend price tag.

Opening the show was slimdan, a Berklee College of Music grad who has been an established singer/songwriter since he was 15. Now based in Los Angeles, slimdan has over 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and played his top hits, like Celebrity Lookalikes and Nosebleeds.

Remi Wolf’s act began at 11:15pm, giving patrons of ACL time to commute over to Emo’s should they want to catch her set early or keep the party going. The Big Ideas tour came through Austin halfway through it’s first leg, before going overseas and then back into the US. She will be returning to Austin again on this tour in May of 2025 at the Moody Amphitheater, a much bigger venue than Emo’s or Stubb’s, where she performed in 2023.

The set began with a bang, opening with a fan favorite from her previous album “Juno”, Disco Man. Then right into the next banger, Cinderella from “Big Ideas”. Throughout the night she played everyone’s favorites, like Liz, Sexy Villain, Alone in Miami, and even a cover of Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts.

Remo Wolf’s energy is contagious. She dances around the stage, screams, interacts with the crowd– it’s definitely a must-see act. The Big Ideas tour continues throughout the UK in 2024 and comes back to the US in 2025. Get more info at https://www.remiwolf.com/tour/.

National Hockey League seeking expansion in Houston and Austin as potential targets

HOUSTON, Texas — The NHL is looking to start the expansion process in Texas, with Austin and Houston as potential targets, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

The expansion news is being discussed at the NHL’s board of governors meeting, which is being held on Tuesday in New York.

The NHL went from 30 to 32 clubs when it added the Vegas Golden Knights (began play in 2017-18) and Seattle Kraken (debuted in 2021-22). The expansion fee for Vegas was $500 million and for Seattle was $650 million.

Earlier this month at the Stanley Cup Final, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman reiterated that the league has fielded calls from across North America from prospective cities and owners who are interested in bringing in an NHL franchise.

Bettman has previously told the board of governors that any potential expansion team would likely come with at least a $2 billion fee for it to make sense.

The league has seen record revenues this season — projected to be between $7.5 billion and $8 billion. The NHL salary cap is set at $104 million for the 2026-27 season, a $8.5 million increase from this past season.
