Predicting Kentucky guard Koby Brea’s stats for the 2024-25 season

Kentucky basketball is currently preparing for Big Blue Madness with some intense practices leading up to the event. Among Kentucky’s top players heading into the season is Koby Brea, a transfer guard from Dayton. As one of the best shooters in the nation, Brea will be a major part of Kentucky’s offense.

Mark Pope has raved about him numerous times about his incredible shooting ability, saying, “By the numbers, Koby Brea is the most efficient mid-to-high major player in college basketball in the last decade.” That’s very high praise, but the 6-foot-7 guard has backed that up. Last season at Dayton, he was extremely efficient, shooting 51.2% overall and 49.8% from three-point range.

Brea will be a massive part of Mark Pope’s offensive system, adding in that he’s also the perfect fit for it as an efficient shooter. The ball-handling and spacing of the offense will allow Brea to get plenty of open looks, and with his terrific shooting percentage, there’s no question about his numbers this season. He’ll get to show off that ability in a system that is perfect for players like him.

Let’s take a look at what his stats may look like this season.

Just like Jaxson Robinson, Brea will have plenty of opportunity to shine in Kentucky’s offense. The 6-foot-7 guard will likely even have more scoring opportunities just given how impressive of a shooter that is. Factor in the spacing, which will help get him open to shoot from deep, there will be plenty of shooting attempts up for grabs for Brea.

Brea will not only have plenty of opportunities to shoot, but he will also have plenty of scorers around him to pass it to, which will lead to more assist numbers in the long run. With the talent around him compared to his time at Dayton, there’s no reason to believe his assists won’t take a giant leap.

The 6-foot-7 guard should not need to get many rebounds this season with the big men ready to do the dirty work. Especially on the offensive end, Brea shouldn’t see many opportunities to get a rebound given his high-prioritized role as an efficient shooter.

Brea should be one of the players that fans are most excited to see this season, especially with how exciting Pope’s offense is and how it caters to shooters like him.

Kentucky lands elite Ohio State OL transfer Tegra Tshabola

The Kentucky Wildcats have made another big splash in the transfer portal, landing former Ohio State starting right guard Tegra Tshabola, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

Tshabola was a two-year starter for the Buckeyes, starting 29 straight games and helping them win the national championship in 2024. He was named to the All-Big Ten third team by the media and was an honorable mention by the coaches in 2025.

He entered the portal following the season, quickly becoming one of the top available offensive linemen. The 6-foot-6, 322-pounder visited the Auburn Tigers first before taking a trip to Lexington and committing to the Wildcats. He will have one season of eligibility at Kentucky.

Tshabola is ranked as the No. 91 overall player and No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the transfer portal by 247Sports. He allowed just 12 pressures and one sack last season, but finished with a PFF grade of 56.3, the lowest of Ohio State’s starting offensive line.

Kentucky’s transfer class now has 23 commits, ranking as the No. 6 class in the country and the No. 4 class in the SEC. Tshabola is the sixth offensive lineman they have landed as the new coaching staff has prioritized rebuilding the trenches. They have also landed four-star offensive tackle Lance Heard and four-star interior offensive lineman Coleton Price, giving them arguably the best offensive line haul of any team in the country.

Kentucky Women’s Basketball gets historic win over No. 5 Oklahoma

The No. 6 Kentucky Wildcats moved to 16-2 on the season after a massive win over the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners by a final score of 63-57. Kenny Brooks’ squad’s successful season rolls on with a second top-five win, the most the UK women’s team has ever had in a single season.

The Wildcats pulled out a close win thanks to senior Tonie Morgan, who totaled 22 points (8/19 FG), eight rebounds, and four assists. Morgan also played all 40 minutes on Sunday evening against the Sooners as her stellar season continues.

The Wildcats also played strong defense all night. As a team, they totaled four steals and eight blocks. Clara Strack, the 6-foot-5 senior, led the team with three blocks. Strack also recorded her ninth double-double of the season. They held the Sooners to 24-67 shooting (36%) from FG range and 2-19 from deep (11%).

The Wildcats held the Sooners scoreless in the last four minutes and moved to 3-1 in SEC play and now have three top-25 wins this season after previously winning at Louisville and at LSU.

Between the transfer portal, a men’s basketball win, and a women’s basketball win, it has been a great weekend in the Bluegrass!

Mark Pope updates injury status of Jayden Quaintance

The Kentucky Wildcats had to return to the court Saturday night without their star center in Jayden Quaintance.

Coming back to the court from an ACL tear last season, Quaintance shined in his opening game against St. John’s and has eased himself back into game-play after nine months off the court. That is why it came as a surprise on Friday night when he was listed as out on the injury report.

Well, we got some more insight into why he was held out against Mississippi State in the pregame radio show. When asked about the injury, here is what Mark Pope had to say.

“He’s (Quaintance) just had a little bit of swelling, so we’re just kind of monitoring it,” Pope said. “And the most important thing is just his health. So, it’s going to be a little start and stop as we go. That’s just the process.”

So, for now, it doesn’t sound like anything that will keep JQ out for too long, though it’s unknown if he’ll return for either of next week’s games at LSU and at Tennessee.

The Cats have started to piece it together in the front court, but there is no denying the potential Quaintance has. When healthy, he is an NBA lottery pick. Now let’s hope he can get back onto the court soon to help the Cats make a run.
