Vance plans Arizona border visit as campaign hammers Harris on failings as 'czar'
Former President Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, will travel to the key swing state of Arizona Thursday, where he plans to visit the southern border.
Vance will make an appearance in a critical state for the Trump campaign’s hopes of winning the election while also tackling a critical concern of voters in the race by visiting the border, Fox News Digital has learned.
The border stop comes as the Trump campaign has pivoted to running against Vice President Kamala Harris, who was elevated to the top of the ticket after President Biden’s decision to drop out of the race last week.

Trump and Vance have made it a priority to highlight how Harris has contributed to many of the unpopular policies of the current administration, particularly the vice president’s role in attempting to identify and solve the “root causes” of illegal migration at the southern U.S. border that resulted in the vice president being labeled the administration’s “border czar.”
Vance sought to highlight the issue the day after Biden’s decision, arguing in remarks to reporters that Harris’ position at the top of the Democratic ticket didn’t change the “political calculus” for the Trump campaign.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced Tuesday that he plans to join U.S. Senate candidate Derek Dooley on a campaign tour Thursday in northeast Georgia.
Dooley, a Republican candidate who describes himself as a “political outsider,” has a series of five stops. Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp plan to support the candidate, who, like Kemp, grew up in Athens.
Dooley, the son of University of Georgia football coach Vince Dooley, and himself a former college and NFL coach, is running against GOP candidates Buddy Carter, Mike Collins, and others. Carter and Collins are members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Republican primary is on May 19.
Dooley’s tour begins at 9 a.m. at the McEachin Farm, 600 U.S. 29, Danielsville, followed by a stop at the Franklin Springs Public Safety Building at 10:30 a.m. on 2525 West Main St.
The next stops are 12:30 p.m. at the Crossroads Café, 4654 Ga. Highway 115, Demorest; 2 p.m. at Linda’s Place, 66 Doyle St., Toccoa; and 3:30 p.m. at the Homer Fire Department, 243 Sycamore St., Homer.
Dooley, who has a law degree from UGA, will also make stops on Friday in Fannin, Hall, and Morgan counties.

LAUREL, Md. (7News) — Police in Laurel, Maryland, are investigating two violent incidents that left five people injured near a busy shopping area.
According to the Laurel Police Department, three people were shot and taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.

Officers also responded to a separate location in the same area for a stabbing, where two additional victims were injured and taken to the hospital.

Police said the incidents happened in the same area near the Laurel Shopping Center, along the 13600 block of Baltimore Avenue, close to a steakhouse and Amigos Restaurant.

Officials said it is not yet clear whether the shooting and stabbing are connected.
