City of Charleston preps residents for hurricane season

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The City of Charleston is launching Hurricane Preparedness Week to prepare its residents for the upcoming hurricane season.

“Part of living in Charleston is understanding hurricanes and the risks they pose to our community,” said Mayor William Cogswell. “We want to make sure every resident feels equipped and informed to handle any potential storms.”

Hurricane Preparedness Week is scheduled for July 15 to July 19. The weeklong initiative will feature a variety of informative content to provide residents with the best practices for hurricane preparedness, said city officials.

News 2’s own Rob Fowler will partner with the Charleston Fire Department and other local emergency management teams to deliver daily content packed with essential information to stay safe.
