Fourth-ranked Tennessee baseball (30-6, 10-5 SEC) is set to battle the Bellarmine Knights (6-29, 5-10 ASUN) Tuesday evening in Lindsey Nelson Stadium for a midweek contest.

Tennessee is looking to extend its six-game winning streak after sweeping the LSU Tigers last weekend in Knoxville. The sweep marked Tennessee’s first in SEC play and propelled them to 10 conference wins and second in the SEC East. The Vols’ pitching staff had their best weekend collectively so far in league play as AJ Causey, Drew Beam, Nate Snead, Zander Sechrist, Chris Stamos, Kirby Connell and Aaron Combs all shined.

After most of their SEC wins had been in high-scoring affairs or run-rule victories, Tennessee found a way to win close, low-scoring games on Friday and Saturday before turning it up a notch on Sunday with an 8-4 win.

In addition to Tennessee’s sweep over LSU, the Vols have earned series wins over Auburn on the road and No. 24 Georgia and Ole Miss in Knoxville. Tennessee also owns a sweep over Illinois, midweek win over Kansas State, and wins over Baylor and Texas Tech in Arlington during opening weekend.

Tennessee opened SEC play in Tuscaloosa against Alabama, who are the only team to beat the Vols in a series this season, winning games two and three.

As for Bellarmine, the Knights have struggled significantly this season and are currently on a six-game losing streak. From February 17 to March 26, Bellarmine lost 23 games in a row.

Tennessee has hosted Bellarmine three times in the past two seasons, winning all three contests by a combined score of 39-9. The Vols dominated the Knights, 19-1, in the most recent meeting on April 25, 2023, in Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Tonight’s contest will primarily serve as a tune-up for the Vols before they hit the road to battle No. 3 Kentucky in a three-game series in Lexington. On paper, Kentucky will is the best opponent remaining on Tennessee’s regular-season schedule.

Injury Note

-AJ Russell remains out as he deals with forearm soreness. Russell will likely be out for a while, but he didn’t suffer a very serious injury.

Phillips receives his first start as a Vol. He has been mediocre in his appearances so far this season, but there’s no denying his power and size on the mound. Certainly a high upside. His season-long in IP is 2.0.
Pender is among the top pitchers on Bellarmine’s roster in innings pitched. He’s obviously struggled with his command, but he is one of the Knights’ more trusted arms.

When is Tennessee’s tax-free weekend in 2026? Here’s what you need to know

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The State of Tennessee’s annual sales tax holiday is set to begin at the end of July in 2026.

The holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 31 and runs through Sunday, August 2 at 11:59 p.m.

Certain goods may be purchased tax-free during this weekend event.

“Certain restrictions apply. Items sold online are also eligible. Items must be purchased for personal use, not for business or trade,” the Tennessee Department of Revenue said.

Previously, the state has listed the following items that are and are not tax-free:

Clothing

Tax-Free: General apparel that costs less than $100 per item. Things like shirts, pants, socks, shoes and dresses.
Not Tax-Free: Items over $100, jewelry, handbags and sports equipment

School Supplies

Tax-Free: School supplies that are less than $100 per item. Think backpacks, pencils, notebooks and art supplies.
Not Tax-Free: School supplies more than $100 each.

Computers

Tax-Free: Computers less than $1,500. Laptops and tablets as well.
Not Tax-Free: Storage media like flash drives, printer supplies or household appliances.

The Recipient of Taylor Swift’s Bouquet Toss Has Strong Tennessee Football, Lady Vols Basketball Ties | Rocky Top Insider

This past weekend, music icon Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce tied the knot and were married in Madison Square Garden in New York City. Among the long list of antendees featured celebrities and athletes with ties to the two parties.

One of the athletes in attendance was Kelce’s teammate on the Kansas City Chiefs, Trey Smith. Attending alongside the former Tennessee football standout was his sister, Ashley Smith.

On top of being present for one of the most publicized weddings in recent history, Ashley Smith is leaving with a souvenir of sorts. She caught Swift’s bouquet toss, traditionally meaning she will be the next to get married.

“Celebrated an Enchanting Love S(T&T)ory,” Ashley Smith wrote on Instagram. “And somehow…I ended up catching Tay Tay’s bouquet. So here’s to believing it’s bringing a lifetime of love, luck, and laughter my way. Congratulations, Taylor & Travis! Cheers to forever T&T!”

Along with being near the Tennessee football program as the sister of one of the Vols’ best players, Ashley Smith played a role within the team. Initially, she worked in the Tennessee football office as Director of Football Administration & Special Events. She was then elevated to Director of Student-Athlete Career Development in 2018. She is now the Manager of Player Engagement in the NFL.

“Ashley has done a fine job for us, and I believe she’ll really thrive in this role,” then-Athletic Director Phillip Fulmer said at the time of her promotion at UT. “She was fantastic in her role with football, but now that she’s working with all sports, she’ll be able to make a positive impact on more of our student-athletes. She understands how important it is that they have resources and advocates to help them transition to the next phase of their career.”

Ashley Smith graduated from Tennessee in 2013. During her time as a student, she served as the head student manager under Pat Summitt’s Lady Vols basketball program. After graduation, she worked in the NCAA’s national office in Indianapolis and earned a master’s degree at Florida before returning to UT.
