Schools across Rhode Island delayed after freezing temperatures create black ice | ABC6
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Many schools were delayed Wednesday after freezing temperatures left black ice on Rhode Island roads.
The following schools will be delayed:
- Barrington Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- Burrillville Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- Central Falls Public Schools — delayed 1 hour
- Chariho Regional Public Schools — delayed 2 hours, no a.m. Pre-K
- Coventry Public Schools — delayed 2 hours, no a.m. Pre-K
- Cranston Public Schools — delayed 2 hours, no a.m. Pre-K
- Cumberland Public Schools — delayed 2 hours, no a.m. Pre-K
- East Providence Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- Foster-Glocester Elementary and Regional Schools — delayed 90 minutes, no a.m. Pre-K
- Jamestown Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- Johnston Public Schools — delayed 2 hours, no a.m. Pre-K
- Lincoln Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- North Kingstown Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- North Providence Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- North Smithfield Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- Pawtucket Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- Providence Schools — delayed 1 hour
- Scituate Public Schools — delayed 2 hours, no a.m. Pre-K
- Smithfield Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- South Kingstown Public Schools — delayed 1 hour, no a.m. Pre-K
- Warwick Public Schools — delayed 2 hours, no a.m. Pre-K
- West Bay Collaborative in Warwick — delayed 2 hours
- West Warwick Public Schools — delayed 2 hours, no a.m. Pre-K
- Woonsocket Public Schools — delayed 2 hours no a.m. Pre-K
The weather also canceled some religious services. There will be no 7 a.m. mass at St. Anthony Church in North Providence, no services, 8 a.m. mass, or holy hour at St. Jude Catholic Church in Lincoln, and no 7 a.m. mass at St. Michael Church in Smithfield.

Rhode Island economy sends mixed signals to close out 2025, new report finds
Rhode Island
Oil truck rollover closes road in Scituate
A rollover crash caused a road closure in Scituate Monday evening.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said they received a report for a heating truck rollover at 4 p.m.
Officials said the crash happened on West Greenville Road.
The truck was carrying approximately 2,000 to 2,500 gallons of home heating oil.
Officials said it is unclear how much oil spilled into the road.
It is unclear when the street will reopen.
